 I do my own books in QuickBooks and actually feel competent doing so. Having access to the HBBH discussion group has been really helpful, especially when you are starting out and there are obviously lots of questions that arise. I think one of the best things that I got out of going to HBBH was budgeting. I had a chunk of money after graduation to survive on, while starting my practice. Being able to monitor what I'm spending and doing my best to make my savings last as long as possible has given me the time to develop my practice. I think what people do a lot of the time is take that chunk and put it a lot of it into the business, making it difficult for them to last 12 months. I had the attitude of using most of it to survive personally and purchase the barebones for my business.
